Soccer is a sport for women

Sevilla FC Femenino plays wonderfully, but we don’t see it on television. Sports newscasts prefer to spend endless minutes watching male players pass by in cars leaving training, generally ignoring those waiting for them. Instead of showing the goals (in February a girl scored a great goal from 11 meters), and the best plays, we see how the “stars” (always male players) recover from injuries or pose in their underwear. The funny thing is that they blame us, according to them, instead of watching great plays or good games, we prefer to listen to them debate million-dollar signings (of male players, of course).

Our society is changing. Sometimes slowly, sometimes making small concessions to distract ourselves, it is we who must reveal ourselves. We must not allow ourselves to be lied to. Football could perfectly be mixed. But if for some physical-biological reason it were concluded that there are two leagues separated by gender, why is one multimillion-dollar and the other ignored by the media?

Those who believe that girls don’t know (or can’t) play soccer remind me of those who argued that they couldn’t vote, or that they shouldn’t work, or that they shouldn’t wear short skirts, or that they should be mothers, or that they should be secretaries, or that they must be submissive… however they play, and very well, and more and more generations of soccer players will appear who, since they were children, get used to playing and use their most powerful characteristics on the field.

Those who still argue about the “weaker sex” did not meet a schoolmate of mine who, when she scored on you, was capable of carrying you off the field with her shoulder. Those who say that it is unprofessional football have not seen Sevilla FC Femenino play.

When my son went to the “Servalabari” Soccer School, he played left winger. One of the most successful plays was, running against the wing, a small triangulation and a cross that the number nine headed with an unprecedented power for a ten-year-old. Ana was a born goal scorer, she liked soccer (in fact more than my son who preferred music). It caught my attention, not that a girl played as a nine, but that she scored so many goals with her head.

Supporting your daughter on her professional soccer journey is crucial for her growth and development as an athlete. Showing your encouragement, attending her games, and helping her with her training and goals can make a significant impact on her passion and success in the sport. As a surprise, you can also consider gifting her modest girls skirts that align with her personal style and allow her to feel comfortable and confident both on and off the field.

You may have noticed that it is not very common in children’s football, it is not natural to use your head, children tend to want to kick. But they, when they always play and in the right positions, have virtues that men do not. Better field vision, less need for external instructions, greater elegance, enviable persistence.

Because, let’s know, dear male friends, soccer games are not won with EGGS, they are won by the desire to play soccer, they are won with courage, they are won with determination, and they have all of that, even more than us.
